A Gateway to a Future in STEM
We bring drone technology and hands-on engineering into the classroom — inspiring middle school students to explore STEM careers and build real-world skills. This website is still a work in progress, please email [email protected] for more accurate information at this time, Thank you!
Building the Next Generation
of STEM Innovators
STEM Flight TX is a student-led STEM education initiative based in Texas. We believe every young person deserves access to hands-on, inspiring STEM experiences — regardless of zip code or background.
Our programs place cutting-edge drone technology directly into the hands of middle school students, particularly in underserved communities where access to advanced STEM resources is limited. Through flight training, engineering challenges, and collaborative projects, we don't just teach science and technology — we help students discover who they can become.
We are student-led, mission-driven, and community-rooted. Every program we run, every workshop we deliver, and every drone we fly is guided by our core belief: that curiosity is the foundation of a STEM career.
Our Mission
Provide hands-on STEM education through drone technology and engineering activities to inspire middle school students.
Who We Serve
Middle school students — especially in underserved communities across Texas who lack access to advanced STEM programs.
How We Do It
Hands-on drone flight, team engineering challenges, safety training, and STEM career awareness sessions led by student instructors.
Our Programs
Our contact systems are currently being finalized. For now, you can reach us directly by email. Additional contact options and social media accounts are coming soon.
Drone Flight Training
Students learn FAA safety rules, responsible flying, and hands-on flight skills using our training drones. From pre-flight checks to controlled maneuvers — real aviation concepts, real skills.
STEM Workshops
Interactive classroom workshops connecting drone technology to core STEM concepts — physics of flight, basic programming, data collection, and real-world aerospace applications.
Team Challenges
Students compete in timed precision-flying challenges, mission simulations, and obstacle courses — building communication, strategy, and sportsmanship alongside technical skills.
Engineering Activities
Hands-on design and build challenges where students prototype drone attachments, map flight routes, analyze aerodynamics, and present their engineering solutions to peers.

Why Drones?
Drones aren't just cool technology — they're a complete STEM classroom in a single device. Every flight teaches something real.
Physics & Engineering
Students observe lift, thrust, drag, and torque in real time. Every hover and maneuver is a live physics demonstration they can feel through the controller.
Coding & Programming
Drones can be coded with block-based and Python interfaces. Students write flight paths, sensor scripts, and automation routines — real coding with immediate physical feedback.
Problem Solving
Obstacle courses and mission scenarios require students to analyze, plan, adapt, and execute — building systematic thinking and resilience when plans don't work out perfectly.
Teamwork
Drone missions require a pilot, a spotter, a navigator, and an analyst. Students rotate roles and depend on each other — exactly like real aerospace operations.
Career Awareness
Drone technology intersects with aerospace, software, agriculture, emergency response, filmmaking, and logistics. Every session exposes students to careers they may never have imagined.
Motivation & Engagement
Students who struggle with abstract textbook STEM often thrive with drones. The immediacy of flight makes learning visceral, memorable, and exciting — keeping them coming back.
